Choose when mail is marked read
Mail you open is marked read right away, after a few seconds, or only when you mark it yourself.
Choose When I open it (the standard), After 5, 10, 15 or 20 seconds, or Only when I mark it. With a few seconds, a message you move on from sooner stays unread, and so does the rest of its conversation. With Only when I mark it, mail stays unread until you choose Mark read or press U, which switches between read and unread.
